Starter bush, 12 volt - Various aircooled

12 volt starter motor bush, for Air-cooled VW's with 12v starter motor, and 12v gearbox. Air-cooled VW starter motors have no internal front bushing, relying instead on an external floating bush in the gearbox bell housing.

With the introduction of 12v electrics to aircooled VW's the sizes of the starter shaft and the gearbox hole were both decreased to allow for the larger 12v flywheel.

Early and late gearboxes and starters are interchangeable by the use of conversion bushes. Approximate 6volt and 12volt bush sizes are shown below (with the sizes for this bush in red) should you have any uncertainty as to which bush is required.
